TOSSED: A $9 million palimony lawsuit filed against comedian Bill Maher was thrown out of court earlier this week, after the judge determined that Maher had not agreed to support Nancy "Coco" Johnsen, a woman he had dated for several months, AP reports. Johnsen claimed that she and Maher had begun dating in January 2003, and that he convinced her to quit her job and promised he would support her. She alleged that Maher became angry and shook her, prompting the suit. Maher quickly filed to have it dismissed.
RETURNED: Jimmy Fallon will host the 14th annual MTV Movie Awards, AP reports. The 30-year-old comedian has previous experience with the music channel's awards shows, having emceed the 2001 MTV Movie Awards and the 2002 Video Music Awards. The ceremony will be taped June 4 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and will air June 9.
THREATENED: Police have arrested a man who allegedly pointed a gun and threatened actor Mykelti Williamson, who's had roles in such films as Forrest Gump, After the Sunset and the recent The Assassination of Richard Nixon, the Associated Press reports. The alleged threat came Tuesday as the two men were driving. Williamson said he was followed by the man, who was allegedly yelling racial epithets and brandishing a gun. "He was out of control, completely out of control," Williamson said. The actor noted the man's license plate number, and police later arrested a 24-year-old suspect.
SUSPENDED: Production for Comedy Central's hit series Chappelle's Show has been halted indefinitely, AP reports. The network issued a statement Wednesday saying it is optimistic "production will resume in the near future." No explanation was offered as to the reason behind the stoppage.
