Fellow Women Kick Caryn Off Survivor
By a unanimous vote, Ohio civil-rights attorney Caryn Groedel, 46, got sent packing on CBS's Survivor: Palau Thursday night, after learning the hard way not to trust an alliance of women.
"Everybody's been very deceptive, and I'm the one who starts speaking about it," said Caryn, adding to those who betrayed her: "You ultimately have to face the music anyway."
The women's alliance was formed after Ian Rosenberger, the 23-year-old dolphin trainer from Key Largo, won the reward challenge, with the prize being a Chevrolet Corvette Convertible and dinner with an overnight stay at a mansion. Ian had promised to take Katie had he been the victor, but instead he took Tom Westman, the 41-year-old NYC firefighter and the only other surviving man in the group.
The fury of Ohio grad student Katie Mullen, 25, fueled the alliance with Caryn and nanny Jennifer Lyon – leaving Ian to remark when he makes this discovery that heading off with Tom was his "biggest mistake in the game."
Confronting Katie later, a meeting that ends in tears and an embrace, Ian promises "not to be stupid again."
