Oscar winner Cate Blanchett 's 1-year-old son, Roman, is being treated for a minor burn after being injured in Morocco, where his mother is shooting a new film, her rep confirms.
The child "had a small accident while visiting his mother in Morocco where she's filming," publicist Lisa Kasteler says in a statement. "Cate and both of her sons returned to London and Roman is being treated for a minor burn."
A source tells PEOPLE that the child was reaching out for a cup of boiling water when it spilled.
The Melbourne, Australia-born Blanchett and her husband of seven years, writer-director Andrew Upton, have two sons: Roman and Dashiell, 3.
The accident occurred Sunday night, the day after his mother (who won her Oscar for her portrayal as Katharine Hepburn in last year's The Aviator) tossed a party to celebrate her 36th birthday at the exclusive La Mamounia Hotel in Marrakech, reports the Australian Associated Press.
Blanchett was in the North African country filming Babel, which her rep said is nearly finished. The film also stars Brad Pitt and Gaél Garcia Bernal.
