Lawyers for estranged couple Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke told Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Saralee Evans on Wednesday that the two actors are close to bringing their seven-year marriage to an amicable end.
"We're expecting everything to be fully settled by next month," Thurman's lawyer, Robert Stephan Cohen, told the New York Post after the court session. He did not provide further details.
The couple, both 34, who have two children, married in 1997 after meeting on the set of the the sci-fi drama Gattaca. Early last year, Hawke told Details magazine that the separation and impending divorce was taking a physical toll on him.
Following what Hawke described as the "most agonizing period of my life," the actor-writer said he shed 15 lbs. because of anxiety since his very public separation from Thurman.
But he also denied that a reported affair with 22-year-old model Jen Perzow was what ended his marriage. Calling the tabloid reports "annoying," the Training Day star said, "If our problems were that simple, we'd still be together."
