REUNITED: A reunion of the cast of the 1985 teen movie The Breakfast Club is scheduled for the 2005 MTV Movie Awards, to be taped June 4 at L.A.'s Shrine Auditorium and broadcast June 9, with Jimmy Fallon hosting. Though Emilio Estevez isn't confirmed, in attendance will be Molly Ringwald, Ally Sheedy, Anthony Michael Hall and Judd Nelson, reports the Associated Press. Mariah Carey and Eminem are also scheduled to perform. Not showing up, however, will be Nine Inch Nails, who have pulled out of in the wake of a disagreement over their idea to include an image of President Bush in their performance of the song "The Hand That Feeds," the group has announced. Foo Fighters will replace them on the show.
DIED: Jazz great Oscar Brown Jr., 78, died in Chicago Sunday after a two-month illness, his son announced. The songwriter and playwright had been hospitalized in April and again in mid-May complaining of pain and paralysis in his legs. He had emergency surgery on May 16 to address an abscess on his lower spine, Napoleon Brown said. Brown was known for such compositions "The Snake," "Signifyin' Monkey" and lyrics for Miles Davis's "All Blues."
