WEEK AHEAD: Brad & Angelina Speak Out
06/03/2005 AT 05:05 PM EDT
SATURDAY, JUNE 4: Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are scheduled to bring their PDA to the MTV Movie Awards, going down at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Other highlights include a reunion of the cast of The Breakfast Club (though Emilio Estevez hasn't been confirmed) and performances by Eminem, Mariah Carey and the Foo Fighters (replacing Nine Inch Nails, who backed out when MTV refused to allow them to use a picture of George W. Bush as a backdrop for their performance). Former Saturday Night Live goofball Jimmy Fallon hosts the party, which will air on the network June 9 at 8:30 p.m. ET.
SUNDAY, JUNE 5: Hugh Jackman is back for the third year as host of the Tony Awards, which this year may be all about a certain canned meat. The musical Monty Python's Spamalot leads the night with 14 nominations, while other contenders include Billy Crystal, whose one-man show 700 Sundays is nominated for special theatrical event, Liev Schreiber, who's nominated for his electric performance in Glengarry Glen Ross. Presenters include Oscar nominee Don Cheadle, Matthew Broderick, Ethan Hawke and Desperate Housewives star Marcia Cross. The Tonys will be air on CBS at 8 p.m. ET from New York's Radio City Music Hall.
Meanwhile, ex-Friend Lisa Kudrow is returning to TV with HBO's The Comeback (9:30 p.m. ET), a sardonic look at a washed-up sitcom actress from the '90s trying to get another shot at TV fame. In it, Kudrow plays Valerie Cherish, who's so desperate to revitalize her career that she's willing to play a landlady in a sitcom called Room and Bored. And, on top of it, she's taping a cheesy reality show about her return. The Comeback teams Kudrow with Sex and the City executive producer Michael Patrick King.
TUESDAY, JUNE 7: You've seen the photos from Africa and the romance rumors. Now it's sit-down interview time for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. The Mr. & Mrs. Smith costars will face individual grillings – Brad with Diane Sawyer on ABC's Primetime Live (10 p.m.), and Angelina on NBC's Today show (7 a.m.). For Pitt, Sawyer traveled to Africa to chat with the actor about the dissolution of his marriage to Jennifer Aniston, his alleged romance with Jolie and his charity work.
