Vartan – who's remained good friends with Garner – is "very excited" about her pregnancy with new husband Ben Affleck. "I think it's fantastic,” he says. “Very cool." And Vartan will get to play dad in his own way: His secret-agent Michael Vaughn is the onscreen father to Sydney Bristow's baby-to-be on Alias.
Though he's sworn to secrecy about any specific plotlines, Vartan, whom we caught up with at the Freeze the Diseases celebrity hockey event in Valencia, Calif., says "it will be interesting to have to write around her for a while." Still, with all the action on the set, "the baby takes precedence over Alias," he says. "It's a no-brainer."
Going Their Own Way
The ladies of Destiny's Child are parting ways professionally after the Sept. 10 date of their Destiny Fulfilled ... And Lovin' It tour in Vancouver, Canada. So, what's up next for the trio? We found out from Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams during a recent visit with ill children at the Ronald McDonald House in Washington, D.C.
"The Pink Panther comes out in February and I'm starting Dreamgirls," says Beyonce. She costars with Oscar winner Jamie Foxx and Eddie Murphy in the latter movie based on the Broadway play about an aspiring girl group (sound familiar?). "I start with November rehearsals and filming in January." She's also working on her fashion line with her mother, House of Dereon.
Meanwhile, Rowland is planning a new solo album (the follow-up to 2002's Simply Deep) and hopes to do more TV roles. And Michelle Williams, who has released two gospel albums, including 2004's Do You Know, will be featured in a new Gap ad campaign this fall where she'll sing, ironically, Al Green's "Let's Stay Together."
But that won't be the end of Destiny's Child – at least not in stores. A greatest-hits album will drop before the end of the year along with a live DVD. And the Destiny's Child dolls will hit shelves in time for Christmas.
Caught in the Act
Catherine Zeta-Jones and husband Michael Douglas, dining at upscale Italian restaurant Cafe Milano in Washington, D.C. The actress, who wore a black dress with a shawl around her shoulders, had waiters agog over her. They were calling her "a real woman," says a source.
Reese Witherspoon, lunching at West Hollywood eatery Asia de Cuba.
Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart, feasting on sushi at Japanese restaurant Takao in Brentwood, Calif.
