Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise
What happened to PDA-happy Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes? Lately, they've been keeping things more low-key. But TomKat were recently seen engaging in a private embrace outside a Paramount Pictures soundstage in Los Angeles, where Cruise was filming Mission: Impossible III.
A source tells us that Holmes was patiently leaning against a wall, waiting for her man to appear. When he did, Cruise – sporting a look that was "very reminiscent of his Top Gun days," says the observer – and the actress "both smiled big toothy grins and leaned in toward each other to kiss. It wasn't just a peck either. It was really passionate."
And their romantic moment wasn't for anybody else's benefit: "I don't think there was anyone else of importance around," says the witness.
Ben Affleck spent his 33rd birthday on Aug. 15 in typical low-key fashion: He and pregnant wife Jennifer Garner were spotted stopping in to the Donut Connection in Savannah, Ga., a 40-minute drive from his waterfront home on exclusive Hampton Island in south Georgia. The couple, who were dressed casually – he in shorts and and a T-shirt, she in a sundress – dropped in for coffee and doughnut holes. While munching on the sweets, Affleck mentioned that it was his birthday. No word on whether he got his dessert for free.
What's the Beef?
On the red carpet at Teen People's recent Young Hollywood bash at L.A.'s Cabana Club, the scene was anything but cordial when Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden got into a heated exchange with actor Chad Michael Murray. After some back-and-forth, Murray asked Madden, "Are you trying to be hard?" Madden closed in for a staredown with the actor before walking away. "Have a nice night," Murray said. "I'm not through with you," yelled the singer. Though he wouldn't elaborate on their altercation, Murray – who costarred with Madden's girlfriend, Hilary Duff, in last year's A Cinderella Story – told us at the party, "I have too much respect for myself and for anybody in the industry to bother worrying about it."
