American Idol's Bo Bice is recovering after undergoing emergency surgery Friday in Las Vegas, according to a statement on the singer's Web site.
Bice fell ill prior to a show Thursday, at which time he was rushed to the hospital, MTV reports.
The statement doesn't say what caused Bice's ailment, but it says the surgery was successful and that the 29-year-old singer must continue resting for an undetermined length of time. "Bo and his family are grateful for your prayers, thoughts, and support throughout this serious and unexpected medical situation," the statement reads.
Bice was in Las Vegas with the American Idols Live Tour, which features the top 10 finalists of the season.
Bice's condition was not immediately known, although sources close to the singer told MTV that he suffered from a kink in his intestines. The singer's mother said that she could not comment on specifics of his condition, but that he was recovering and "wants the fans to know he's thankful for their prayers."
The singer's absence from the show at the Thomas & Mack Center was noted by fans, who chanted "We want Bo!" Last season's Idol champ Carrie Underwood returned to the stage to tell fans that Bice had suffered "bad luck" and had been hospitalized, the Las Vegas Review Journal reported.
It wasn't the first such incident of "bad luck" for Bice, who, earlier on the tour, broke his foot while onstage. He had been performing in a cast since.
