Garfunkel, 63, a Manhattan resident, was charged after a state a trooper reportedly detected a strong, distinctive scent and then searched the singer's vehicle, said the paper. He was issued a ticket and is due back in Woodstock Town Court on Sept. 22.
In January of last year, Garfunkel was charged with marijuana possession after police pulled over his limo for speeding in upstate New York. That time, the marijuana was found in his jacket pocket, police said.
In February 2004 he pleaded guilty and paid $200 in fines.
In late 2003 Garfunkel reunited with singing and writing partner Paul Simon for a U.S. concert tour (their first in 20 years). The duo, famous for such songs as "The Sounds of Silence," "Mrs. Robinson" and "Old Friends," have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
