The gift was revealed after Stewart, 64, whipped up a carrot cake for her mother, Martha Kostyra, on her nationally syndicated series, Martha, the Associated Press reports.
Kostyra was in the audience when the agreement was announced with Dr. Brent Ridge, who will head the new center, which will provide medical treatment and care, while operating as a think tank to address problems facing the elderly.
"What we are really interested in is the art of aging gracefully and well, and staying healthy as long as we can," said Stewart.
