Brown, 25, made the announcement to reporters on Thursday outside Manhattan Criminal Court, where she is facing legal problems over her alleged August 2004 fight with two New York City nail salon workers.
Brown, whose new album is titled Broken Silence, refused to discuss the cause of her hearing problems, but said an operation was planned soon, according to published reports.
Straining to hear questions from the press, Brown said she would complete a new CD and make her last public appearance this Sunday – at least for the time being.
Brown, wearing Louis Vuitton blouse and pants and Stella McCartney pumps, faced reporters after Judge Martin Murphy set her trial for Dec. 5. She is charged with misdemeanor assault, attempted assault and harassment, and has rejected plea deals in the case.
"I'm innocent. I feel like I'm being railroaded," she said before leaving court in a black Mercedes SLK 350 convertible.
