In March, Zellweger begins playing Victorian author Potter for Babe director Chris Noonan, Variety also reports. Ewan McGregor, who teamed onscreen with Zellweger for the comedy Down With Love, is in talks to costar. The actress will serve as the film's executive producer.
As for Zellweger, 36, after being married for four months to Chesney, 37, she filed for an annulment two weeks ago, citing "fraud" as the reason behind the split. In a statement, Zellweger said, "the term 'fraud' as listed in the documentation is simply legal language and not a reflection of Kenny's character." Chesney also issued a statement, saying: "This is an incredibly sad time ... I just hope everyone can respect the privacy that I know Renée has already asked for."
He later told Country Weekly magazine that his busy professional schedule contributed to the marriage's demise. "I had the biggest tour I've ever done, I had a record to finish that was real important to me, and, of course, I had something new in my personal life and I was trying to do that, too," he said. "It really ended up being too much. At some point, I just got exhausted."
