Police pulled over the former Wall Street trader on Manhattan's Upper East Side at 2:40 a.m. for an improper lane change.
Reynolds was ultimately issued a "desk appearance ticket for a driver's license suspension due to incorrect DMV paperwork," Brad Zeifman, a spokesman for Reynolds, told PEOPLE Thursday.
As for reports that Jones never appeared at the police station despite a call from her husband, Zeifman denied the claims.
"Mr. Reynolds immediately called his wife, Star Jones Reynolds, who, in fact, arrived within minutes after receiving the call and spent several hours at the precinct with her husband, speaking to police personnel,” Zeifman told PEOPLE.
Jones left the precinct after learning that the situation was caused by a DMV glitch "and worked together with the attorneys and the police department to clear up the misunderstanding," Zeifman added.
According to the New York Post, Reynolds spent more than 12 hours in custody because the 19th Precinct station's fingerprinting machine malfunctioned.
When he was finally sprung, Reynolds nodded when asked if he was okay after his lengthy visit. "Yes, thank you," he replied, the paper reports.
Reynolds, 36, and Jones, 43, were married last November.
