Honeymooners Charles and Camilla – also known as the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall – headed to America for their first joint overseas tour on Tuesday, accompanied by a 16-person entourage that reportedly includes three hairdressers for her.

The (unspoken) thought on most American minds as this royal tour takes place: Can Camilla dazzle as did Charles's first wife, Diana?

Their first stop, after settling into the stately Carlyle Hotel on New York's Upper East Side: Ground Zero in Lower Manhattan, where they will pay their respects to those who lost their lives on 9/11. This will be followed by the dedication of a flower garden planted in memory of the 67 Britons who perished that day.

Later, they will meet United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan at an event on youth enterprise and then attend an evening reception at the Museum of Modern Art. The guest list for the latter reportedly includes Sarah Jessica Parker (no relation to Camilla, of course) and husband Matthew Broderick, Jerry Seinfeld, Diane Sawyer, Robert DeNiro and Donald Trump.

On Wednesday the couple move on to Washington, D.C, to dine with President George Bush at the White House.

The remainder of their eight-day visit will include a brief stop in New Orleans to meet survivors of Hurricane Katrina and then to San Francisco – where Charles will lunch with organic farmers and he and his wife will attend a performance of the cult musical Beach Blanket Babylon.
