A sensational article in a British newspaper claiming that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were married in a secret Buddhist ceremony – and illustrating the nuptials with a photo of the two stars' kissing – has been shot down by the actor's publicist as "completely untrue."

"There's simply no truth to this whatsoever," Cindy Guagenti tells Britain's BBC News in regard to Wednesday's story in the Daily Star. The rep goes on to tell the news service that the photo accompanying the article was, in fact, from the couple's recent movie, Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

Earlier this week, Pitt contacted police after spotting a paparazzi photographer peering into his Malibu home and trying to take photos of inside his living room, Guagenti said Tuesday.

The encounter occurred after Pitt – who was photographed earlier in the day strolling on the beach with Jolie and her children Maddox, 4, and Zahara, 9 months – spotted the alleged trespasser lurking outside the home, said the spokeswoman. She added that once the photog realized Pitt had seen him, he fled.

The incident was reported to the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Department, authorities confirmed.
