Australian pop star Kylie Minogue has announced plans for her homecoming tour, after it was cut short when the 37-year-old performer was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year.

The Frontier Tour Company, which is sponsoring Minogue's tour, announced that the Australia shows won't happen until the end of 2006, the Associated Press reports. Minogue, who lives in London, returned to her hometown Melbourne in May for the start of her "Showgirl: The Greatest Hits" tour when she was diagnosed. The singer underwent surgery in Melbourne to remove the cancer, before returning to London to continue her treatment.

Earlier this year, Minogue blasted the British media for what she called "false stories" about her condition.

Reports surfaced that Minogue had lost a drastic amount of weight and that she was seeking alternative forms of treatment.

A statement issued by EMI, her record company, read in part: "Kylie has made it clear to her representatives that she doesn't want fellow sufferers to be misguided by the false stories regarding her condition and her choice of doctors."

Michael Gudinski, the tour's promoter, said he realized that a year was a long time to wait for Minogue's show, but that the wait would be worth it. "Kylie's been thinking about these shows a lot over the past months, and they're going to be something special," he said.
