Leonardo DiCaprio's latest costar is familiar to everyone: the earth.
star, 31, is producing and narrating 11th Hour,
a feature-length documentary now in production in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles that will offer solutions for restoring the planet's beleaguered ecosystems, his publicist announced.
"Global warming is not only the No. 1 environmental challenge we face today, but one of the most important issues facing all of humanity," DiCaprio said in a statement. "We all have to do our part to raise awareness about global warming and the problems we as a people face in promoting a sustainable environmental future for our planet."
Investor and environmentalist Adam Lewis and renowned poker player Doyle Brunson, who is also a longtime environmentalist, are financing 11th Hour,
which is aimed for release next year, reports the Associated Press.
DiCaprio – who showed up at the Oscars in a hybrid car and has lobbied for worldwide access to clean water – will also be credited as one of the co-writers of the film, whose creative team previously collaborated on Global Warning
and Water Planet,
