Singer Chris Cornell (Audioslave, Soundgarden), 41, and his wife, public relations executive Vicky Cornell, 27 welcomed their second child, a son, on Monday, the couple announced.
The baby, named Christopher Nicholas, was born at 7:08 p.m., weighing in at 8 lbs. 6 oz. and measuring 21 inches long. The couple already have a 14 month-old daughter, Toni.
Both mother and son are doing very well, the statement added.
In another development, the dad, who from 1987-94 was frontman for the Seattle-based grunge group Soundgarden, has sued his ex-wife and former manager Susan Silver, claiming she conspired to divert money owed him to other members of the band, the Associated Press reports.
The lawsuit, filed Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court, also alleges that Silver failed to act in Cornell's best interests and refused to return his journals, music sheets and two Grammy Awards.
Cornell claims his damages exceed $1 million. He also seeks punitive damages.
The couple ended their 12-year marriage in October 2002.
