He is Dan Barry, 52, from South Hadley, Mass., who last flew in space in 2001, after three trips into the wild blue yonder, twice on the space shuttle Discovery.
In this latest, 12th version of the show, each episode will dispatch at least one cast member to a separate island miles away from the others. Hidden on the island, however, will be an immunity idol. The contest will also feature tribes briefly separated by age and an exile where a contestant can profit after stomaching some time alone, the network announced.
In addition to Barry, the contestants are: Aras Baskauskas, 24, a yoga instructor from Santa Monica, Calif.; Austin Carty, 24, an author from High Point, N.C.; Danielle DiLorenzo, 24, a medical sales rep from Pompano Beach, Fla.; Cirie Fields, 35, a registered nurse from Walterboro, S.C.; Misty Giles, 24, an engineer from Dallas; Melinda Hyder, 32, a singer from Sevierville, Tenn.; Bruce Kanegai, 58, a karate instructor from Simi Valley, Calif.; Courtney Marit, 31, a performance artist from L.A.; Bobby Mason, 32, an attorney from L.A.; Ruth Marie Milliman, 48, a shopping-center developer from Greenville, S.C.; Shane Powers, 35, owner of a marketing company in L.A.; Tina Scheer, 45, a sports promoter from Hayward, Wisc.; Sally Schumann, 27, a social worker from Chicago; and Nick Stanbury, 25, a financial salesman in Tempe, Ariz.
