Musician-actor Leif Garrett was arrested over the weekend and was still in L.A.'s Men's Central Jail on Thursday, for suspicion of possessing narcotics and failing to have a subway ticket, the Los Angeles Times reports.
The '70s teen idol, now 44, was denied bail for allegedly also violating the terms of his probation for a previous offense, according to L.A. County sheriff's and district attorney's officials.
In March, Garrett was placed on probation after pleading guilty to attempted possession of cocaine-based narcotics, said DA spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons.
Deputies tell the Times that on Saturday around 6 p.m. Garrett was detained by transit unit sheriff's deputies in a downtown subway station after it was found that he lacked a ticket to ride the system. He was subsequently checked and allegedly found to be possessing narcotics, authorities said.
Garrett has a history of drug-related run-ins dating back several years. In 1979, he rear-ended another car while driving a Porsche, leaving his passenger disabled.
Garrett is due at a hearing in this new case on Wednesday. His most recent role was in last year's movie Pop Star, in which he played a janitor.
