Jessica Simpson, who is filming her new movie in New Mexico, was honored at a special dinner with the state's governor on Thursday night.

Gov. Bill Richardson and his wife Barbara hosted Simpson and her parents, Joe and Tina, at the New Mexico governor's mansion. (On the menu: chicken roulades, potatoes and vegetables.)

Simpson is currently shooting Employee of the Month in Santa Fe with costars Dane Cook, Dax Shepard and Efren Ramirez (a.k.a. "Pedro" from Napoleon Dynamite). As for Jessica's role in the comedy, "This time she's not a sex kitten," Joe told PEOPLE recently. "She's a cashier at Wal-Mart – it's a good change."

Jessica wore a lavender leather jacket and tight jeans to the dinner and was also joined by her costar, Cook.

The Simpson family is no stranger to New Mexico. As residents of nearby Texas, the family has vacationed in Northern New Mexico several times, and has spent time skiing in Red River.
