Brad Renfro Begins Jail Sentence
Following his no contest plea to a drunk-driving charge in a Los Angeles court Wednesday, Brad Renfro was immediately taken to jail where he began a 10-day sentence, the Associated Press reports.
Renfro, 23, was picked up in downtown L.A. on Nov. 24 for suspicion of driving under the influence.
In addition to the jail time, Renfro was fined, ordered to take 18 months of alcohol education classes, and sentenced to five years' probation.
The plea capped a week of courtroom drama for Renfro that began Monday with the actor's sentencing to a drug rehabilitation program for his December arrest while attempting to buy heroin.
Less than a week after his drunk-driving arrest, the actor was snared in a drug sting on L.A.'s Skid Row while trying to purchase drugs. He pleaded guilty Feb. 23 to attempted possession of heroin, and was admitted to the rehab program for nonviolent drug offenders, AP reports.
Renfro made his acting debut in 1994's The Client. He has appeared in more than 15 films, including Ghost World, Sleepers and the indie flick Bully.
