Stapp's suit, against World Wide Red Light District, is similar to the one filed by Kid Rock's lawyers in Detroit in February, the Associated Press reports. A Florida woman who appears in the video also sued earlier this month, claiming invasion of privacy and emotional distress.
In the Kid Rock case, a U.S. District Court judge signed a temporary order preventing the company from distributing or promoting any portion of the tape, including a 40-second preview clip that had run on Red Light District's Web sites.
Stapp's legal papers allege that two tapes (described as a "video diary" of his 1999 concert tour) were stolen from a safe in his home, and that Red Light District violated his trademark and privacy rights, causing him embarrassment, pain, suffering and emotional distress.
Stapp, 32, seeks a restraining order barring the company from distributing the video.
Representatives for Red Light have not commented.
