Kevin Federline has a name for his baby – his first album, that is. Due to be released in August, it will be called Playing With Fire.
In a statement released through his publicist on Tuesday, Federline, billed as "performer and rapper," says: "The inspiration and meaning behind the title … is self explanatory, (because) my album is sure to set the dance floors across the world on fire!"
The 28-year-old dancer – who is married to Britney Spears – said in a recent interview with Newsweek that after the all the negative press he has received ("'He hates his children, he treats his wife like dirt, he gets high all day,'" Federline said, paraphrasing his critics), he is poised to receive an even greater backlash over his new role as a rapper.
"Sure, there'll be initial shock and awe," he said. "But they've already said so much s--- about me, it can't get worse."
Though critics savaged his single, "PopoZão," Federline received 2 million hits in eight days after releasing it on his Web site. Federline says that he's proved that there's interest in his songs: "If my album has even half that attention, watch out."
To promote the album once it hits stores, Federline will appear at various clubs throughout the U.S., his publicist says.
