There is life after seven years in the White House for West Wing star Martin Sheen: He's going back to school.
Sheen, 65, will enroll this fall at the National University of Ireland in Galway, where he intends to major in English literature, philosophy and theology with special interest in oceanography, the BBC reports.
"We are developing that interest with him (and are) looking forward to welcoming" him, says a spokesperson for the school, which is home to the Huston School of film and digital media. Angelica Huston is one of the institution's patrons.
Sheen, who has been awarded several honorary degrees over the years, has long said he wanted to finish his education once he retired from acting.
NBC cancelled the award-winning West Wing this year after a seven-year run. Its finale is scheduled to air on May 14.
