With another baby on the way with wife Britney Spears, Kevin Federline is about to become a dad for the fourth time. And the rapper-dancer gets a vote of confidence from his ex, actress Shar Jackson. "He's an amazing dad," Jackson tells us. "Like when Kori was first born, her whole first year and a half, he was there. I mean, he wouldn't leave her side. He's a good guy, and when he's not with (his kids), it hurts his heart that he misses them so much."

So, what's it like to grow up with Federline as a father? "He's a goofy guy," Jackson told us at a Target-sponsored party celebrating author Jane Buckingham's The Modern Girl's Guide to Motherhood at the Regent Beverly Wilshire. "He loves to play with them. He's swimming with them and chasing 'em and singing songs."

Prince's Purple Reign

So many stars turned out for Prince's 3121 party, we had to wonder: How did all of Hollywood fit into one place? Jude Law hung out with pals in a booth brought in for the occasion, Bruce Willis canoodled with an attractive brunette, Jessica Alba and beau Cash Warren held hands and cuddled, and Jada Pinkett Smith and Thandie Newton danced to Michael Jackson's "Don't Stop."

The high-wattage guest list – including Sharon Stone, Angela Bassett, Ziyi Zhang and Tricia Yearwood – got a special treat when The Purple One took the stage for two sets: First, Prince backed up his protégé, singer Tamar, on guitar for her pre-midnight show. Then after 1 a.m., he played his own music for almost two hours, including new songs ("3121") and old hits ("Purple Rain"). All the while, partygoers at his Hollywood Hills home feasted on sushi, mini-quiches, tuna tartare, raspberry sorbet with chocolate cookies, and star-shaped sugar cookies frosted in – what else? – purple.

Paris Hilton, hanging out with sister Nicky and Kevin Connolly at the bar at hot new West Hollywood eatery The Bridge. Later in the evening, Jessica Simpson showed up.

Missy Elliott, buying a $299 Penelope the Pup stuffed animal at New York City toy store FAO Schwarz.

Malcolm in the Middle's Bryan Cranston, hobnobbing with dignitaries such as former Secretary of State Colin Powell at a Washington, D.C., benefit for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The actor tells us he gave TV son Frankie Muniz – who's becoming a Formula One race car driver – one last bit of fatherly ribbing before ending their FOX show. "I said to him, 'A professional race car driver? Have you seen the price of gas?!' "
