Haley Joel Osment Injured in Car Crash
Osment, 18, is expected to make a full recovery, according to Dr. Paul Gilbert, an orthopedic surgeon at Huntington Hospital where Osment will remain until Friday.
"He's pretty uncomfortable and resting. He just wants to let everyone know he's going to be OK," Gilbert told the Associated Press.
The actor reportedly lost control of his 1995 Saturn around 1 a.m near Los Angeles. He crashed into a mailbox on a brick base and flipped over, said Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. Greg Sisneros. The actor, who was traveling alone, was alert and talkative following the accident.
When asked if blood was taken for an alcohol test, Gilbert said, "I'm sure blood samples were taken but I don't have a comment on that."
Osment was nominated for an Academy Award for his role in the 1999 M. Night Shyamalan hit The Sixth Sense in which he played a boy who saw dead people. He also appeared in Steven Spielberg’s Artificial Intelligence: AI and Pay It Forward.
His next project is Home of the Giants, in which he plays a high school journalist.
