David Hasselhoff and his wife of 16 years, Pamela Bach, ended their status as a married couple Wednesday, but their divorce proceedings continue.

"I've always loved him and always will, and have love and compassion for him," Bach said in a statement. "It's a very, very sad day, but a day to move on."

Hasselhoff, 54, filed for divorce on Jan. 12; Bach, 43, also filed her own divorce papers. Both parties cited irreconcilable differences. In March, Bach filed a restraining order against her ex, alleging domestic violence, which Hasselhoff denied.

In May, the court awarded them joint custody of their two teenage daughters, Hayley, 13, and Taylor-Ann, 16.

Reps for Hasselhoff did not return calls for comment.

Hasselhoff – or "The Hoff," as he is now called in his role as a judge on America's Got Talent – starred in Baywatch from 1989 to 2000, and in the '80s series Knight Rider.

Bach regularly appeared on the TV show Sirens and occasionally on Baywatch and Knight Rider.
