"It was the happiest day of my life," Cale, 36, tells PEOPLE. "From the morning when we played touch football to our first dance (to Kermit the Frog's "Rainbow Connection" from The Muppet Movie), it was all perfect."
Cale, who will take her husband's name, did some guest spots on Joey and is set to appear on the NBC fall sitcom Twenty Good Years, starring John Lithgow.
