"We are very happy. It's nice to be able to go out and be yourself," Bass, 27, told PEOPLE Saturday night at an L.A. party for Jaime Pressly and Hill Harper's Adopt-a-School initiative, which he attended with Lehmkuhl, 32. "We're always out. It's just now people are paying attention, I guess. It's funny."
Added Lehmkuhl, "We love to keep it mellow. It's really nice right now to enjoy private time together. We're just normal like anybody else, (going to) the beach, movies, the pool."
Will the former 'N Sync-er and the model-actor-Amazing Race winner ever work together? "No, not together," Bass said. "I don't think we like to mix business … " Lehmkuhl agreed: "We're just enjoying each other."
Bass told PEOPLE in July that he and Lehmkuhl are in a "very stable" relationship. Of his partner's decision, Lehmkuhl told PEOPLE on Saturday, "I'm just really proud of Lance and the decision he made. He did it all on his own and I just stood by and supported him. It's just been great."
