The woman who was in a three-vehicle collision that involved Ellen DeGeneres and her partner Portia de Rossi on Sept. 1 in Los Angeles has been charged with DUI, PEOPLE has confirmed.
Jeanne N. Werber, 52, will face two misdemeanor counts at her scheduled Oct. 4 arraignment: driving under the influence and failure to show proof of insurance.
The crash occurred when DeGeneres, driving a 2006 Porsche Carrera, stopped at a light on Sunset Boulevard. A 2002 Buick Le Sabre, driven by two men in their 20s who were later identified as paparazzi working for the X17 photo agency, stopped behind her.
Then Werber slammed her 2002 Porsche Carrera into the back of the Buick, which in turn collided with DeGeneres's car, police told PEOPLE. Werber, who had minor cuts on her leg, was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.
No one required medical attention. DeGeneres "had a little neck and back pain, but it doesn't look like it was anything serious," LAPD Sgt. Ken Buscarino told the Associated Press. De Rossi complained of back pain; the men in the Buick suffered scratches.
DeGeneres, whose car sustained some small damage, said on the Sept. 6 edition of her eponymous talk show that the accident was "shocking and disorienting."
Still, she was able to make light of one aspect of it, saying, "It's really handy to have the paparazzi right there behind you, because they got it all on video. I wish that for all of you, to be followed by paparazzi."
