WEEK AHEAD: Janet Jackson's Back!
09/23/2006 AT 06:00 AM EDT
Janet Jackson is making her mark on the music scene again with her new album, 20 Y.O. PEOPLE takes a look at the diva's new disc, plus other events to watch for in the coming week:
SUNDAY, SEPT. 24: Last we tuned into Desperate Housewives, Mike Delfino (James Denton) was the victim of a hit-and-run right on Wisteria Lane. It's a new season – and there's plenty more drama to go around. Will Susan (Teri Hatcher) nurse him back to health? What about Bree (Marcia Cross), whose romance with mysterious dentist Orson Hodge (Kyle MacLachlan) is heating up. Find out what other surprises are in store with the third season opener (ABC at 9 p.m. ET)
Katharine McPhee, Taylor Hicks and the rest of American Idol stars are packing up their bags and going home. The Top 10 finalists are closing out their U.S. tour in Wilkes-Barre, Penn. Sniff, sniff. The Soul Patrol will just have to find another place to convene.
TUESDAY, SEPT. 26: She's in control again: Janet Jackson returns with 20 Y.O. Miss Jackson-If-You're-Nasty is already making noise with her "Call On Me" duet with Nelly, and her sultry "So Excited" video has been heating up the airwaves. It's a big week for Janet: On Monday, she'll sit down on Oprah Winfrey's couch and talk about her life, including finding love with Jermaine Dupri and gaining – then losing – almost 60 lbs.!
FALL TV PREMIERES
The world of fashion gets a new look – and a fresh take – on Ugly Betty, the Salma Hayek-produced comedy (based on a Latin American telenovela) starring America Ferrera as the frumpy titular character who gets hired at a fashion magazine despite her own sartorial shortcomings (Sept. 28, 8 p.m. ET).? Talk about a challenging role: Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler guest stars on Two and a Half Men, playing a rowdy rocker (Sept. 25, 9 p.m. ET).? Meanwhile, the drama rages on in the aftermath of Lorelai's (Lauren Graham) major indiscretion – she jumped into bed with her ex (and father of her child) Christopher (David Sutcliffe) – on the seventh season of Gilmore Girls (Sept. 26, 8 p.m. ET).
