Warren Beatty will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement at the 64th annual Golden Globe Awards on Jan. 15, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced Wednesday.

Beatty, 69, has received five Golden Globes in his career: for comedy actor and producer (of best picture) Heaven Can Wait; director, Reds; producer, Bugsy; and "Most Promising Newcomer" of 1962. In 1967, his Bonnie and Clyde, which he starred in and produced, helped galvanize the youth movement in Hollywood.

In announcing Beatty as this year's DeMille recipient, actor James Caan said: "This year's DeMille Award honoree has probably starred in more groundbreaking films than any actor around. "

Recent DeMille winners have included Anthony Hopkins (2006), Robin Williams (2005), Michael Douglas (2004), Gene Hackman (2003), Harrison Ford (2002), Al Pacino (2001), and Barbra Streisand (2000) – whose award was presented by Beatty's older sister, actress Shirley MacLaine.

Nominations for this year's Golden Globes will be announced on Thursday, Dec. 14, with the ceremony to be broadcast live on NBC from the Beverly Hilton's ballroom.

One actress who has gotten buzz as a possible nominee this year, for her leading role in Running With Scissors, is Beatty's wife, Annette Bening. The two met on the set of Bugsy in 1991 and married the following year.

They have four children: Kathlyn, 14, Benjamin 12, Isabel, 9, and Ella 6.
