Gwen Stefani hits the stage at the Billboard Music Awards – and who knows who else might show! – on Monday. PEOPLE takes a look at the Vegas event, plus other events to watch out for in the coming week:

MONDAY, DEC. 4: While the talk about the Billboard Awards has been all about whether Britney Spears and Paris Hilton would bring their buddy routine to TV as co-hosts, there's sure to be a lot more going on than the new BFFs (if they show). Gwen Stefani, whose album The Sweet Escape drops the next day, will hit the stage. Other hot performers include Janet Jackson, Fergie, The Killers, Mary J. Blige and Ludacris. Watch all the action, live from Las Vegas's Strip, on FOX (8 p.m. ET).

TUESDAY, DEC. 5: They're bringing sexy back! The Victoria's Secret Angels will hit the catwalk, wings and all, for the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, airing on CBS (10 p.m. ET). Of course, who better to serenade them during their stroll then Mr. "SexyBack" himself, Justin Timberlake? Supermodel Gisele Bündchen leads the model parade and lets PEOPLE in on her secret pre-show thoughts backstage. So, what was she thinking before hitting the runway? "What am I going to have for lunch?"

THURSDAY, DEC. 7: The year is winding down and that just means one thing: Awards show season is revving up. A star-studded roster of talent (and possible contenders) – Justin Timberlake, Rascal Flatts, Mary J. Blige and Josh Groban – will announce the nominees for the upcoming 49th Annual Grammy Awards. Music's big night happens Feb. 11 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

FRIDAY, DEC. 8: Mel Gibson has been in the news lately more for his personal life (his anti-Semitic outburst after a drunk-driving arrest, expressing sympathy for Michael Richards after his comedy-club debacle) than his career, but now he's back in filmmaker mode with Apocalypto, a thriller about a Mayan warrior trying to save his family. And for those of you who don't speak the Mayan dialect of Yucatec, don't worry – the movie's all-Yucatec dialogue is subtitled in English.
