Those Brits just can't stop trying to top their American cousins.
First, along came their Orange British Film Academy Awards -- or BAFTA -- to try and scoop our Oscars. And now comes the NAFTA Awards ("naff" is a British adjective meaning "tacky"), which aim to scoop Hollywood's Razzie Awards for the worst movies of the year.
This weekend's big winner in the NAFTA contest also happens to be one of the big nominees in the Razzies race: Britney Spears.
Her debut film, "Crossroads," which is up for seven Razzies on March 22 (alongside "Star Wars: Episode II -- Attack of the Clones" and Madonna and Guy Ritchie's embarrassingly public home movie, "Swept Away"), was named the worst film of last year.
NAFTA voters are reportedly composed of thousands of Virgin Radio listeners in the UK.
Virgin Radio's Daryl Denham told BBC1: "The NAFTAs celebrate the worst, the most awful, the most dreadful films of the past year and listeners thought 'Crossroads' was the most cringe-worthy film they had the misfortune to sit through."
The "Top" 10 Worst films, according to NAFTA voters, are as follows:
1. "Crossroads"
2. "Ali G in Da House"
3. "Men In Black II"
4. "Jeepers Creepers"
5. "XXX"
6. "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets"
7. "Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers"
8. "Slap Her She's French"
9. "Signs"
10. "Austin Powers in Goldmember"
