Evans has filed a motion in a Williamson County, Tenn., court accusing Schelske of refusing to set a date to mediate their differences unless she fires her attorney and makes a televised statement to deny her original allegations about his alleged adultery and pornography use.
Evans also accuses Schelske of demanding joint custody of their three children as a condition to their mediation.
In the document, filed Friday, Evans claims Schelske threatened to "turn [his attorneys] loose" on her and "take her down" unless she dismisses her attorney, John Hollins Sr. – whom Schelske says "plants evidence, lies and sets people up," according to Evans's documents.
Should she not comply, Evans further quotes Schelske as saying, he is prepared to "start World War III."
"He practically cried and stated that he did not want to do that to the mother of his children but would if forced to do so," Evans states in her affidavit.
In his response, filed Monday, Schelske denied making any "demands or threats" and said, according to his filing, that he and Evans recently spent time together and "have been like family."
Schelske also said that he and Evans had even discussed reconciling.
In his affidavit, Schelske says of Evans, "I have loved her unconditionally since the day I met her," and "I believe our marriage can be healed with God's help and counseling."
He adds that he is "not a perfect man but I have been a faithful husband and friend," and that "I did not want her to suffer publicly as I have through this ordeal."
Evans filed for divorce in October – quitting ABC's Dancing With the Stars to handle the domestic matter – and accused Schelske of having an affair with the couple's nanny.
Citing a gag order, spokespeople for Evans and Schelske would not comment on the developments in the case. The next hearing in is scheduled for April 3.
