"Stacy's Mom" songwriter Adam Schlesinger has become a dad for the second time.
The one-time Oscar nominee welcomed daughter Claire Michel on March 5 with wife Katie Michel, his rep told PEOPLE. The 8-lb. 4-oz. baby joins 4-year-old sister Sadie.
Schlesinger is the bassist for the Grammy-nominated power pop band Fountains of Wayne and was an Academy Award and Golden Globe nominee for the title track from the Tom Hanks movie That Thing You Do!
Most recently, Schlesinger penned "Meaningless Kiss" – the goofy Hugh Grant-sung '80s-era "hit" in Music and Lyrics.
"He's actually a good singer," Schlesigner told Entertainment Weekly
about the actor. "He was the first one to admit that he had no singing experience and really doesn't know anything at all about pop music."
Schlesinger and Michel have been married since 1999; they met more than 10 years ago at a neighborhood bar in New York. On their second date, he took her to the Oscars – which allayed her parents' fears that she was dating a musician. "That helped me convince her parents that I wasn't a total bum," he said.
Fountains of Wayne will release their latest album, Traffic and Weather,
on April 3.
