Love-Triangle Astronaut Pleads Not Guilty | Lisa Nowak
Love-triangle astronaut Lisa Nowak formally entered a not-guilty plea on Thursday to attempted kidnapping charges, the Associated Press reports.

Nowak, 43, also faces charges of burglary with assault and battery.

The onetime Navy captain, who did not appear at the brief arraignment in Orlando, had previously entered a written not-guilty plea.

After she was charged her earlier this month, NASA fired her, saying, "The agency lacks the administrative means to deal appropriately with the criminal charges pending against Nowak."

Nowak, a mother of three, was arrested on Feb. 5 in Florida after allegedly driving 900 miles from her Texas home to confront Air Force Capt. Colleen Shipman, who was dating her former lover, space shuttle pilot Bill Oefelein.

Police captured Nowak at the Orlando International Airport and reported finding a BB gun, steel mallet, knife and rubber tubing in her car.

(Nowak's friends and family spoke to PEOPLE about the arrest in a February cover story.)

Nowak will face trial on July 30. The Navy said she would be transferred to the Corpus Christi, Texas, command; she is currently free on bail.
