Courtney Love is denying rumors that her recent dramatic weight loss is the result of gastric-band surgery.

"I couldn't get that surgery if I begged for it," she writes on her Web site, moonwashedrose.com, the New York Daily News reports. "I got my inspiration from Oprah losing so much weight on Slim-Fast."

(Winfrey actually lost weight in 1988 on a medically supervised liquid diet using a supplement called Optifast.)

Love, 42, got the Internet buzzing last month when she appeared noticeably thinner in photos of her vacationing in Hawaii in a bikini. She wrote on her Web site that she'd "lost 44 pounds with 6 more maybe 11 more to go."

A rep for the onetime Hole singer told PEOPLE that Love is following a macrobiotic diet, eating lots of vegetables and fish, doing yoga and exercising to meet her weight-loss goals.

But on Thursday the New York Post's Page Six quoted a source as saying Love was "telling people she got the gastric band surgery." Love's rep told the paper: "Not true. She says she never got surgery."

In her most recent Web post, Love also writes that she knows who will play herself and her late husband in an upcoming Kurt Cobain biopic, "but cannot say. Very high-end and very A-list."
