As Sheryl Crow hit the road and spread the eco-friendly word on her 12-campus Stop Global Warming college tour, she and pal Laurie David (who produced An Inconvenient Truth) sent updates and video from the bus to PEOPLE.com readers throughout April.

Hey, you guys! Thank you so much for following us virtually on this tour and we hope that you will virtually march with us by joining Stopglobalwarming.org.

A couple of things we wanted to clear up as we wrap up our tour. First, Sheryl's suggestion of using one square of toilet tissue per bathroom visit (part of a comic moment onstage) was a joke [She wrote on the huffingtonpost.com that some occasions may call for two or three squares, but still received criticism from Rosie O'Donnell and a wave of online satire]. However, while you are sitting in the "office" reading the morning paper, will you now not pause before jerking 10 to 15 yards of toilet tissue off the roll?

Another thing that came out of the tour was our Stop Global Warming pajamas, which we proudly wore on the Today show Sunday morning. What we won't do to get our message across!

We have been so impressed to read what personal changes PEOPLE readers have been doing. For example, Marissa from North Carolina and Kristine from Oklahoma, we LOVE that you are taking public transportation to work, rather than driving. What a cool example you are setting for everybody who has that option!

And Katie in Lansing, Mich. – Americans throw out 100 billion plastic bags a year and now there are 5 less a week thanks to your effort. Thank you!

We're sad to see the tour end. We have met so many amazing and inspiring college students who are using their ingenuity to change the way they live.

We are so happy that 30,000 Philips compact fluorescent light bulbs (75 percent more energy efficient!) were handed out to every person who came to one of our shows. In fact, our documentary crew even followed some students back to their dorm rooms to see them replace the old bulb with the new one.

Let the light shine.

Thank you to everyone! Until next time!

We can't believe how fast our Stop Global Warming college tour has gone, but how great to be concluding it on Earth Day in Washington, D.C. And we plan on Sunday to make so much noise from GWU that they will hear us all the way at the White House.

One great thing about traveling with a rock star is that rock stars have rock star friends and joining us on Sunday is country star Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and Carole King. Not to mention the comedy stylings of one Mr. Larry David. (Larry and Sheryl are already arguing over one comedy bit she was trying to get into the show. Her recycled paper clothing line.)

We are wondering what Monday is going to be like when we go our separate ways. We are going to need a 12-step program to get us thru it. Larry has already volunteered to wear a blond wig around the house for a week.

Every day is bringing about new surprises as we work our way toward our Earth Day celebration in Washington, D.C.

Our bus was parked in the hotel parking lot this morning in Nashville and, as we disembarked, we were lucky enough to get a surprise visit by country music star Jack Ingram. He was hot off his win for the Wide Open Country Video of the Year at the CMT awards last night, which, incidentally, Sheryl was also up for but was sadly defeated. We were so excited to hear that he had just become our newest virtual marcher on the Stop Global Warming Virtual March – you can read his statement here. What a cool dude.

Our other surprise was a visit by former Vice President Al Gore, who sat and talked with us on the bus about what he hopes to see happen in this country as the Stop Global Warming movement catches fire. Having the former Vice President visit was like having your dad show up for Father’s Weekend at the sorority house. We were giddy with excitement and proud to show him our home away from home.

A Special Note
Spending the past week speaking to thousands of college students across the Southeast, the recent tragedy at Virginia Tech has really hit home. We would like to take this opportunity to send our sympathies to the families and friends of the victims. In remembrance of those taken from us this past Monday in Blacksburg, we are taking a moment of silence at each tour stop this week.

The spirit of the tour is infectious – just yesterday, our macho bus driver/security guard Chuck was all excited to report to us that he had done a great thing for the environment that morning. Instead of washing the whole bus – he only washed the wheels. That was his "one thing" that he contributed to the day.

We want to challenge all PEOPLE readers to write in: Tell us the one thing you are doing today that you didn't do yesterday to help slow global warming. (Click here to submit your one thing!)

Meantime, today was a full day. Laurie was late for the bus (again) and we took a trip to the Ninth Ward to see the destruction from Hurricane Katrina.

Needless to say, it was an emotional day.
