Her collaboration with Shakira, "Beautiful Liar," was also nominated for video of the year. Other nominees in that category are Akon featuring Snoop Dogg for "I Wanna Love You," Ciara's "Like a Boy" and Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy."
Gnarls Barkley nabbed three BET nominations in total, as did Dreamgirls Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson and Ciara, the Associated Press reports.
In the top female R&B category, Beyoncé will compete with Hudson, Mary J. Blige, Ciara and Corinne Bailey Rae.
Robin Thicke, who was nominated for male R&B artist and the Viewers Choice Award, said he felt like he was now a part of history.
"I grew up inspired by Michael Jackson, Prince and Luther Vandross," Thicke says. "It happens to be the music that touches my soul and makes me feel strong."
The BET Awards, which honor achievements in music, TV, film and sports, will be presented on June 26 at Los Angeles's Shrine Auditorium. Comic Mo'Nique will host the show, which will be broadcast on the BET Network, and 50 Cent and T.I., among others, are set to perform.
"I'm sure everyone is trying to figure out how I was able to arrange the award show to happen in honor of my new CD," joked 50 Cent, whose third album, Curtis, will be released the same day as the show. "I just try to use my influence in the right places."
Diana Ross will receive BET's Lifetime Achievement Award, and Don Cheadle is due to be presented the Humanitarian Award for his work to end genocide in Darfur.
