Richie Sambora Completes Program at Treatment Facility
Originally posted Wednesday June 13, 2007 03:20 PM EDT
Richie Sambora has left the Los Angeles treatment facility he entered last week, PEOPLE has
learned exclusively.
"Richie Sambora has completed a program at the UCLA Medical Center," a Bon Jovi rep tells PEOPLE. "He is doing well and continues to receive outside support."
Last week, Sambora's rep said in a statement that the guitarist, 47, had entered an undisclosed treatment facility in Los Angeles. The specific nature of his problem was not disclosed at the time.
It has been a trying year for Sambora. In April, his divorce from Heather Locklear was finalized, and that same month, his father died of lung cancer. His relationship with girlfriend Denise Richards also ended.
"Richie has had a terrible year," a close friend of the rocker told PEOPLE. "I think this was a culmination of all these things and finally he realized he needed to take care of himself. He'd put off everything for so long, taking care of everyone else, it was just time to stop and deal with his issues."
The group is scheduled to play some shows this summer, beginning June 24 in London, but it is a relatively light schedule.
The band's new album, Lost Highway, is due out on June 19, when Bon Jovi is scheduled to perform on the Today show, and the band will perform on The View on June 20. Sambora is expected to be at both appearances.
