Mary-Louise Parker has one thing in common with her pot-dealing Weeds character: She's a devoted mom.

"I'm someone who doesn't have a mass of talents in life, but I think I'm a good mother," the 42-year-old actress, whose son William is 3, tells the U.K. Mail on Sunday's You magazine.

Parker and Will's dad, actor Billy Crudup, 38, split while Parker was pregnant; Crudup then dated Claire Danes. Parker won't talk about the breakup, but when she's asked if Will sees his father, she says: "Of course."

Though Parker, who recently split from Jeffrey Dean Morgan, has won accolades as a stage actress, she says she hasn't done a play since her son was a year old. "I like the time when it's just me and Will together," she says. "A play would have to be great to take me away from my child again."

She prefers to devote herself to motherhood. "It's nice to be focused on someone other than yourself," she says. "I kind of killed myself looking after Will in the beginning because I didn't want to leave him; I wanted to be the one there with him whenever I wasn't working.

"So I never went out, never went to the gym – I didn't want him to be picked up in the middle of the night by someone who was paid to pick him up."

Will's middle name is Atticus, after heroic lawyer Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird. "I just want him to be happy and kind, that's why I gave him that middle name," Parker says.

Asked if her son looks like her, she replies, "I think he's going to be much more beautiful than me."
