Ian Ziering 'Disappointed' at Price Is Right Rebuff | Ian Ziering
Ian Ziering lit up the floor on Dancing with the Stars earlier this year – but he won't finish 2007 hosting The Price is Right, as he'd wished.

"I guess I was a little disappointed," Ziering, 43, told PEOPLE at Tuesday's The Simpsons Movie premiere in Westwood, Calif. "I was really kind of hoping that would happen."

Revealing his anticipation, the former Beverly Hills, 90210 actor says, "For the last month, I've been so titillated, my family has been excited at the mere notion of me hosting The Price is Right."

On Monday, Drew Carey, 49, was named new host of the long-running game show, now that its iconic emcee, Bob Barker, has retired. (Among those also under consideration, besides Carey and Ziering, were Rosie O'Donnell, Mark Steines and Mario Lopez.)

"Unfortunately, it didn't go my way," says Ziering. "But they got a great host in Drew Carey. I've always been a big fan of his. I think he's going to do great."

Ziering also says that his confidence remains intact.

"I'm in a great space right now," he says. "I feel good. Everything is going in the right direction. ... That's one thing about this business, that there are so many mediums to perform in. I'm not really too bummed, because something else usually turns up."
