Marcia Cross: Desperate for Her Daughters
"I had them come with me last week," Cross tells PEOPLE of her on-set demands for daughters Savannah and Eden. "I think if I have one full day, then the next day they have to come with me [to work] because I can't not see them for that long."
PEOPLE caught up with Cross, 45, who plays Bree on Desperate Housewives, at Summer at the Malibu Pier benefiting The Rock Foundation, an event which celebrated the pier opening for the first time in 12 years.
"When they're with me [at work], that's challenging, but when they're not with me ... I'm a new mother, that's what it is, it's all challenging," Cross explains.
An unexpected side effect of having her girls on Wisteria Lane is the attention they attract from cast and crew. "I'm trying to keep them slightly sequestered because everybody's [squealing with delight]," says Cross. "They want to scream."
The arrival of her daughters on Feb. 20 was a first for both Cross and her stockbroker husband Tom Mahoney, 49. The couple married in June last year.
By late May Cross was already back down to near her pre-birth weight and just a month later was spotted shopping for bathing suits.
"I feel like I've got my body back and you know it's really nice," Cross says.
While filming Housewives during the latter stages of pregnancy Cross was forced to bed as a precautionary measure. "It just feels really good to be back acting when I'm not pregnant and not tired and not nauseous," she says.
