Newlywed Eva Longoria
says that if she and husband Tony Parker have kids, the couple will teach them all three languages they collectively speak – English, Spanish and French.
"We will definitely do that – absolutely, absolutely!" the Desperate Housewives
star told PEOPLE Saturday at a fundraiser for Padres Contra El Cancer (Parents Against Cancer), which helps Latino children with cancer and their families. The event took place at the premiere of the Nickelodeon show Go, Diego, Go Live! The Great Jaguar Rescue
at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood.
"Tony and I would love to have kids," said Longoria, 32, who speaks both English and Spanish fluently. Parker, 25, is a native of France. The couple wed in Paris
Longoria said that it's nice to have bilingual cartoon characters like Diego and Dora the Explorer, joking that when she was a kid, "Speedy Gonzales was the [only] bilingual character growing up and all he said was 'Arriba! Arriba!'"
Longoria showed off her maternal instincts at the event by spending time with several of the kids on hand, squatting down for a photo with them, coloring and having imaginary tea time at one of the kid's tables.
"It was really important today to have the opportunity to bring the kids from Padres," added Longoria. "[They can] come out with their families and their brothers and their sisters and just enjoy a day of fun and of Go, Diego, Go and just step away from the chemo and step away from the treatments and step away from the hospital and get out and be a kid, because that's what it's all about!"
