Amy Winehouse Cancels All Her August Commitments
Originally posted Thursday August 16, 2007 02:00 PM EDT
After canceling two opening gigs for the Rolling Stones originally scheduled for this week, "Rehab" pop star Amy Winehouse is pulling the plug on the remainder of her performances in August, her rep announced Thursday.
"Amy Winehouse is putting all her touring commitments for this month on hold until further notice in order to address her health issues," representative Tracey Miller tells PEOPLE.
"Amy will now not be performing at this weekend's V Festival in Chelmsford and Staffordshire [England]," Miller added. "Her family has requested that the media respect Amy's privacy at this time. There will be no further comment."
The rep also refuted reports that Winehouse was or is in rehab. The singer's U.S. tour and performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, both slated for September, are still happening, she said.
On Aug. 8, Miller told PEOPLE, "Amy was admitted to London's University College London Hospital for exhaustion, treated and released just this afternoon. The doctor said she was suffering from severe exhaustion, and she was told to rest."
Last week, the 23-year-old Winehouse's scheduled concerts in Norway and Denmark were postponed, but the remainder of her European tour dates were set to go on as planned, announced the rep.
It's been a year of highs and lows for the British sensation, who married boyfriend Blake Fielder-Civil in May, and whose erratic behavior has grabbed headlines even while her album, Back to Black, has climbed the U.S. pop charts.
"Amy has been pulled in a million directions," Miller said last week. "She has done hundreds of shows and promotional appearances in the last year, often working 16 hour days. It's bound to catch up with anybody."
