After facing rumors that they were a couple, Heather Locklear and David Spade have finally decided to hook up – on his TV show Rules of Engagement.

Locklear has signed on for several episodes of the CBS sitcom, a source tells PEOPLE.

In the months after her split last year from Richie Sambora, Locklear was frequently seen with Spade, sometimes under affectionate circumstances.

But their pals repeatedly denied a romance – saying they were just good friends – and Locklear has since started dating her former Melrose Place costar Jack Wagner.
