• Kate Walsh making the shopping rounds in Los Angeles. Perhaps the Private Practice star is doing some last-minute wedding shopping? She's set to tie the knot with her fiancé Alex Young over Labor Day weekend.

• Will Ferrell, upsetting his hairdresser during a cut at Scissors, a bohemian hair salon in Santa Monica. It's not that the funnyman was picky about his cut; he was just busy chatting on the phone as his stylist was going to work. But Ferrell seemed to be in a good mood, especially after a salon employee recognized him and asked, "Are you who I think you are?" An onlooker says the funnyman good naturedly joked, "not today."



• Heath Ledger, celebrating wrapping the latest Batman flick, The Dark Knight, during a bash at Chicago restaurant Carnivale. Sans family, the actor tested his luck against the crew with a game of poker at a casino that was set up for the party.

• Kate Bosworth, lunching with a pal at Los Angeles eatery SUR. The "glowing and gorgeous" actress enjoyed the restaurant's famous blue cheeseburger and hot fries. A few days earlier, Jessica Simpson brought a group of six pals (including Ken Paves) for dinner. The singer sipped a specialty drink –the tropical sangria – and opted for the blackened chicken, an onlooker says.

• A few days later, Jessica Simpson and her pals kept the party going – this time at popular night spot Hyde. Simpson flashed her famous smile from her private booth as she chatted with a pair of male clubgoers over a mojito. Also at Hyde that night: Britney Spears and Lauren Conrad, who seemed especially social, buzzing around the club and saying "hi" to everybody.
